Medical Cases

This page lists and details our current medical cases that are sadly well, outside of the normal ailments and wellness checks that all kitties receive.  some cases are very difficult, life threatening, or permanent disabilities that our kitties have that we are caring for.

Trixie

Little Trixie was found in the streets, alone scared and sick.  We immediately took her to our vet and  she was immediately hospitalized with a severe upper respiratory infection, eye infection, emaciated, and anemic due to fleas and parasites.  This little one is only 5 weeks old.

* Update:  After 5 days in the hospital, little Trixie is showing marked improvement, she's active, alert, and even playful.  They are continuing to keep her as of now to make sure she doesn't lapse right away.

*** Update:  Trixie has been released from hospital and is in our care! ***

Thaddeus & Miracle

There is simple no way to describe the horrible cruelty these babies, the sole survivors of a vicious attack on their little family.  Their momma and her 4 kittens were trapped in a cage and then shot for simply being there.  Their momma and one kitten passed in that cage while the remaining three were left to suffer.  A young girl freed the 3 injured and her family contacted us.  We had them vetted as soon as possible but one sibling, Angel had to be humanely euthanized because her injuries were too severe and we could not let her continue to suffer.

Thaddeus, a little boy at 7 weeks old suffered a nasty laceration to his face and his sister, Miracle had a wound to her leg.

Currently, they are both healing beautifully and we are working with them daily so that they know not all people are evil.

Criminal charges are pending.

Our Flower Girls

Meet Mama Lily and her little flower girls!  Iris is the calico, Petunia the little tuxedo girl, and Daffodil if the little grey diluted calico.   And sadly, we lost little Buttercup.

At about 4 weeks they started showing neurological signs of illness.   After testing for other ailments, they have been diagnosed with Cerebral Hypoplasia.  This usually happens when the mother is in contact with Pan Leukemia during pregnancy but doesn't present itself until around 4-5 weeks.

Petunia, she seems perfectly fine.  Iris is mild but little Daffodil is more between Moderate to Severe.  There is no cure or treatment, their brains simply don't fully develop.  THEY CAN STILL LIVE LONG FULL LIVES, they just need a bit of extra assistance to avoid injury because of their mobility disabilities.

Onyx

Onyx is a super sweet senior boy.  Although, he's so so sweet, his owners decided to dump him into a feral colony where he would not have survived.  He's FIV positive and his poor body is riddled with tumors.  Most do not affect him at all except the one in his ear.  Upon intake we had him vetted and scheduled surgery.  The surgeon removed as much of the tumor as possible and neutered him.

Unfortunately, the tumor has regrown now but so far he doesn't seem to be in any pain.  At this point his care is more like hospice, his age and health makes it more dangerous to try sedation for a repeat surgery.

We will love and spoil him for as long as we can as long as he is now suffering.

Laverne

Laverne and her sister Shirley were found near a dumpster, very young and both very sick.  Her sister, Shirley passed away within a few weeks.  Laverne got better, seemingly, but constantly was getting sick again with respiratory issues. In January at 5 months old she again had a respiratory infection but suddenly she started falling over and showing signs of neurological issues.  She was hospitalized and after 4 days was released with the  grim diagnosis of FIP.  Other colleagues mentioned an experimental treatment for FIP and for months we have painstakingly administered this treatment.  Proud to say our Laverne although she does appear to have some permanent neurological issues, she's showing so much improvement and she's absolutely perfect and a true warrior!

Avery

Sweet Avery, 4 weeks but super tiny. Not emaciated, just super small at 8.5 oz.  Came in with minor eye and respiratory infection but at vet visit they found maggots in her privates which indicates a much more serious infection.

Franklin

Franklin was found abandoned, orphaned, we don't know, at first he seemed healthy but scared. He kept crying out and then the vomiting started.  We are trying our best to get the vomiting under control while keeping him hydrated and trying to get him to eat.
